Sun up ceramics is created and owned by Courtney Krempa. Courtney, a mother and ceramicist native to the Emerald Coast, discovered her passion for clay through a college course. She quickly fell in love with the craft. From 2016 to 2019, she worked in the FWB Arts & Design Society’s clay studio, never missing an open studio opportunity. After a brief hiatus and becoming a mother, she embarked on a mentorship with local artist and ceramicist Mercedes Rogers in 2020. This mentorship provided her with invaluable insights into the practical aspects of working with clay for a living and managing a home studio. In her spare time from motherhood, she has been creating art from her own home studio. Initially, she was drawn to clay as a form of meditation and a creative outlet to adorn her home with handmade art. However, it has evolved into a beautiful way to foster community and share her art, while also teaching her wheel-throwing and hand-building skills.
